When questioned Trainer Imtiaz A.Sait stated that the Instructions to the Jockey were to be in 4th or 5th position, to improve from 800 metres and to do his best from 400 metres. The Trainer stated that the mare met with interference at the start due to which the Jockey had to ride her out to maintain the position which may not have suited her. He further stated that passing 400 metres, she may have been chocking as she has not responded thereafter though she was operated for soft pallet. He added that during the Pune Meeting 2012 the mare ran a couple of times before winning her two races. He added that he only gave her a chance owing to her setback as she herself after winning at Pune and also since it was her first run during the current Meeting. The explanation has been noted.
Trainer Rehanullah Khan was questioned regarding the poor performance of MARTINIQUE. The Trainer stated that previously the mare used to race in front or be well up and this time he wanted to race her from behind, however, she performed poorly in this race. In the final stages of the race, STRIKING GIRL (Kavraj Singh) was steadied as QUANDO QUANDO (App.Prabhu Naidu) shifted ground inwards.
Jockey Kavraj Singh (STRIKING GIRL) reported that his mount ran erratic in the straight.
An objection was lodged by Jockey P.Trevor, rider of SUNTAN BEAUTY (Placed Third) against NATIONAL PRIDE (Ishwar Pardeshi, Placed First). The reason being, near 300 metres NATIONAL PRIDE came alongside when he had just started riding and then cut across, whereby his horse nearly came down and he had to stop riding and check his mount completely and then start riding again and despite this interference his horse finished third, otherwise the verdict would have been different.
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
The Stewards after the last race interviewed Jockey Ishwar Pardeshi for careless riding on his mount NATIONAL PRIDE and not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by him, decided to suspend his Jockey’s license for 20th January, 2013 (permitted to ride work/mock race).
