Racing Incidents

At the start, SMART HUNTER (Amyn Merchant, dr.3) jumped awkwardly outwards and went on to ROSE HEAVEN (Aadesh Kumar, dr.4) who in turn went on to THUNDER STRIKE (R Shelar, dr.5). An objection was lodged by Jockey Aadesh Kumar, rider of ROSE HEAVEN (placed second), against SMART HUNTER (Amyn Merchant, placed first). The reason being, after the start SMART HUNTER came on to him and bumped his horse whereby his filly could not keep up with the pace and by the time she came up it was too late and the bump had cost him the race. After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection. Jockey Aadesh Kumar (ROSE HEAVEN) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using the whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Jockey C.Rajendra (PERSIAN) reported that his mount lugged-in in the straight thereby placing him at a disadvantage in riding out his mount. Trainer Faisal A.Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding. After the race, PERSIAN and ROSE HEAVEN were found to be sound.
