For accepting with his charge b g EQUATOR in the above race while under medication, Tr. Vijay Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/-. Subsequently the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn. UPTROWN GIRL (App Zarar Alam) was fractious while being stalled. COMBINED OPERATION (Imran Chisty) and LEANDRO (Rajinder Singh) were slow to begin. MAHARAANA (A Ashhad Asbar) which was fractious while being stalled was slow to begin losing approximately 2-3 lengths at the start and was observed to negotiate the bend wide from the field. An enquiry had been opened into the running and riding of ch c MAHARAANA. During the course of enquiry Jockey A Ashhad Asbar when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount stated that he was instructed to be well positioned in the early and middle stages of the race but he was unable to follow instructions due to the colt not taking a level start. However, in his endeavour to improve its position he encouraged his mount with the whip soon after the start and it responded by running too freely and therefore he had to maneuver to the outside of the field to avoid running into the heels of the other runners. Thereafter while negotiating the bend the colt was inclined to hang ‘outwards’ in spite of his best efforts to keep it on an even course. Trainer Mr. R W Alford when questioned corroborated the instructions as stated by the jockey and added that while the colt had on occasions been a lethargic starter he was surprised that his charge had behaved in this fashion today i.e., losing some ground at the start and running wide in spite of the jockey’s best efforts. The Stipendiary Stewards having impounded the colt for veterinary examination was informed by the Veterinary Officer that the colt on examination after the race was trotting sound but on touch to the right fore was reflexive to pain. The colt was once again examined the following morning and found to be lame on right fore with severe pain on the outside splint. Under the circumstances the Stipendiary Stewards decided to close the enquiry. Tr. R W Alford was informed not to accept with his charge until certified by the Veterinary Officer. Approaching the 900 metres LEANDRO (Rajinder Singh) was inconvenienced when carried wide by MAHARAANA (A Ashhad Asbar) which shifted ‘outwards’. The Veterinary Officer reported that PASSIONATE returned bleeding from left nostril. Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

ASTRAL DANCER (App Hindu Singh) and WARPATH (B Mahesh) were slow to begin. Jockey B Mahesh, the rider of WARPATH, was reprimanded in the presence of trainer Mr. Sabeel Shariff and fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in the final 400 metres of the race. App Zarar Alam, the rider of LEGENDE INDIENNE, reported loss of whip passing the 400 metres.

dk b m LUCK LUCK LUCKY (Imran Chisty) was examined by the Veterinary Officer behind the barrier before the start and found fit to race. The mare was examined after the race and found to be trotting stiff on hind. Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until certified by the Veterinary Officer. FLYING BOY (Md Islam) and OATH OF VALOUR (Sk Zaffar Riaz) were fractious while being stalled. TEMPLE RUN (B Mahesh) and ATHEIST (Dashrath Singh) were slow to begin. An enquiry was held immediately after running of the race with particular reference to the fall of Jockey Surjeet Singh from his mount LOVELY MAGIC approaching the distance post. As the fall did not affect the placing of horses by the Judge the ‘All Clear’ signal was hoisted. The enquiry continued after the last race and at the conclusion it was established that both Jockey Md Islam (FLYING BOY) and Jockey Surjeet Singh had momentarily allowed their mounts to shift ‘in’ and ‘out’ respectively causing LOVELY MAGIC to stumble thereby unbalancing Jockey Surjeet Singh who fell. Jockey Surjeet Singh is currently under medical treatment and observation. Jockeys Vikash Tamang (GARARO), Md Imran (CARNIVAL POINT), Pintu Das (KAARTIKEN) and Sk Israil (COMEDIAN) were fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/- each for failing to improve their position in the early and middle stages of the race when they had every opportunity to do so. They were further cautioned that should they continue to ride in similar manner in future, they would be dealt with appropriately.

COHIBA (App Hindu Singh) and COPERNICUS (A Ashhad Asbar) were slow to begin.

Jockey A Ashhad Asbar when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount MURLOUGH BAY, stated that he was instructed to position his amount well up with the field and to do his best. However, in spite of his urgings from the 600 metres the filly failed to improve its position. Trainer Mr. R W Alford on questioning stated that :- a) He corroborates the jockey’s statements. b) The filly was not very sound for a number of days after its run in the Fillies Trial Stakes. c) He was disappointed with the performance of the filly as it had worked well during the morning trials and, therefore, was fancied by the stable. d) In his opinion the long lay off between the two races i.e., The Fillies Trial Stakes run on 5th September, 2015 and the race today could be one of the reasons for her dismal performance. The Stipendiary Stewards noted their explanations.
