An objection was lodged by Jockey Pawan Sharma, the rider of FIRING POWER placed 2nd against App B Mahesh, the rider of MYSTRO placed 1st by the Judge on the grounds of “interference in that he was bored out in the final 200 metres specially in the last 50 metres taking his ground, causing him to check and this cost him a certain race”. The Stewards considered the evidence tendered by Jockey Pawan Sharma and App B Mahesh and in conjunction with the views expressed by the Stipendiary Stewards, viewing the replay of the race on the CCTV and acting on their own observations of the race, resolved to over-rule the objection. The Judge’s placings remain unaltered.

Approaching the 900 metres PATROCLUS (Surjeet Singh) whilst racing to the inside of BEAUTY OF MAN (Pawan Sharma) and ACROSTIC (Afzal Khan) was checked by its rider and thereafter brushed against the false rails which caused the right stirrup iron of the jockey to break, the rider then was unable to ride the horse to complete advantage for the rest of the race. In this incident BEAUTY OF MAN also had to be checked by its rider and lost some ground. At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Afzal Khan was fined Rs. 1,000/- for careless riding and advised that he must take greater care to ensure that horses galloping on his inside had adequate room to do so.
