Trainer P.Krishna and Jockey Janardhan Paswan were questioned regarding the running and riding of STAR LIGHTENING. Trainer P.Krishna stated that in his previous outing he ran 1400 metres and went to the front and returned bleeding from both nostrils. Therefore, this race being a mile he wanted to settle the horse in 4th, 5th or 6th position and only after coming in the straight to do his best. When questioned Jockey Janardhan Paswan confirmed the instructions and stated that he tried his best to follow his instructions but the horse was throwing his head up for half of the race and after entering the straight when asked to respond he was hanging out. However, under the circumstances he did his best. When asked the trainer for his observation he stated that the horse was unsettled for a long time since it was keen. When asked about his pet distance the trainer informed that this horse has previously changed hands of 2 trainers in different centres and has come to him and until now he has not done anything except once in Mysore where he placed in a 1200 metres race. He further stated that he’s a 7 Year old horse and a bleeder the last time out as such he wanted to win some stake money before he retires him in the month of March. Explanation of the trainer and jockey was noted for future reference. ADDITIONAL REPORT The Stewards of the Club at their meeting held on 11 January 2018 resolved to suspend Trainer Human Malick with effect wednesday,14th March 2018 up to and including Monday,19th March 2018 both days inclusive and further if he applies for a license for the Madras Racing Season 2018-19 it will be granted, however his license will be suspended from 28th April to 21st May 2018(both days inclusive) for the infringement of Medication Rules laid down under the Madras Race Club Rules of Racing with respect to his charge “SHIVALIK” (Jockey C.Umesh), winner of the above race whose urine sample tested positive for the presence of “FUROSEMIDE” a prohibited substance by the National Dope Testing Laboratory, New Delhi, which falls under the category of Class III drugs and was subsequently considered positive as the trainer decided not to send the split sample for confirmatory analysis. The Senior Veterinary officer reported that WIND OF THE FUTURE (Shahar Babu) had burst his blood vessel after the race. Trainer B.Suresh was advised to get his charge certified fit by the Club’s Senior Veterinary officer before accepting with it again.

CUSTODIAN (S.Stephan Raj) fly jumped losing a length or two at the start. HIGHLAND LIGHT (R.Rayan Ahmed) was slow to start losing about two lengths. Trainer N.Govindarajan was fined a sum of Rs.1000/- for parading his charge AMAZING KNIGHT (Afasr Khan) with a CROSS NOSE BAND, prior permission for which had not been obtained. The CROSS NOSE BAND was removed before the horse left the paddock. Trainer Fahad Khan was questioned regarding the reversal of form in respect of his charge AMIGOS (Saddam Hussain) who won the race within a week. Trainer Fahad Khan stated that though he was not present on the race day, however, the instructions were to hit the front as he felt that the horses does not pass other horses and in his previous race which was 1000 metres his horse could not hit the front. In this race the jockey was able to sit in a forward position and took the lead passing the 700 metres and came out and won. Trainer was informed that since he was well aware that his charge does not pass other horses if he doesn’t hit the front and was well aware that in 1000 meters his horse will not be able to hit the front and will not be able to perform well, and thereafter run his charge in a 1200 meters race where it showed an improvement of over 10 lengths compared to the common runner ORANGE PEKOE (A.Ayaz Khan), explanation tendered by trainer Fahad khan not being satisfactory trainer Fahad Khan was therefore fined a sum of Rs.10,000/- for showing vast improvement in a very short span of time. An enquiry has been opened into the riding of CUSTODIAN ridden by Jockey Stephen Raj.

GLORIOUS WIND (C.A.Brisson) lost about three lengths at the start. Jockey R.Rayan Ahmed the rider of KNIGHT IN ARMOUR was fined a sum of Rs.1000/- for coming in soon after the start and inconvenienced CLEONA (Md.Hesnain).

ACADEMUS (Akshay Kumar) jumped towards his outside onto CROWN OF STARS (S.S.Azad) who in turn shifted out and squeezed the field on his outside resulting in GLORIOUS HOPE (C.A.Brisson), EDUARDO (J.Chinoy) to check their mounts. Jockey Akshay Kumar the rider ACADEMUS was cautioned for shifting out under use of the whip due to which KNIGHT OF KE (C.Umesh) had to shift out. PARRYS CORNER (A.Ayaz Khan) refused to be stalled as such was withdrawn before under Starter’s orders, SSC Revoked. Since the odds were 8 to 1, the bookmaker’s liability was reduced by 12 % on all WIN bets and 25 % on all place bets. S.Stephan Raj the rider of LOGIC reported the loss of his whip at about the 300 metres.
